FAMILY OF THE YEAR An Example to All In 1990, Senator Doug Carl from the 9th District set out to choose outstanding families from churches in Macomb County. Selected from St. Lawrence as "Family of the Year" were Tom and Kathy Dixon and their six children. During a Liturgy on Sunday, July 22, 1990, they were presented a plaque recognizing them as a model for modern families to follow. The Dixons have been St. Lawrence parishioners for twenty years. During that time they have remained active in our parish community. Tom has served as an usher and Parish Council Representative; both he and Kathy are commentators and lectors as well as Eucharistic Ministers. Kathy is also active in the Adult Education program, Baptism Preparation Classes and in the Women's Club. Their children have been active in the Youth Group, and the boys were Altar Servers. This family is an example to everyone of a family involved and living their Christian commitment in the world today.
